The Code of Conduct sets out the ethical principles that govern the way we do business.
The Code of Conduct can only serve as general guidance and is not specifically addressing every possible situation. We should apply common sense and ask for guidance regarding behaviour in specific situations by consulting with a direct superior or any member of the Group Compliance Committee.
The Board of Directors monitors compliance with the Code of Conduct across MET Group. The Group Compliance Committee guides, controls, and fosters all aspects of MET Group’s compliance culture including the Code of Conduct.
We always uphold our core values: the ”FITMIP” principles that lie at the heart of the Code of Conduct and are cornerstones of our behaviour towards colleagues, business partners, customers, authorities and the public:
All our commitments are founded on our dedication to honesty, trust and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (whether external or internal). We say the truth and value transparency. We accept that mistakes or misjudgements occur, however, we do not tolerate lying about them or covering them up.
We also encourage – and take reasonable measures to ensure – that our business partners live by equivalent principles.
We adhere to economic sanctions and international or national trade controls applicable to us to protect ourselves from reputational damage, market restrictions and penalties.
Sanctions are complex and constantly changing. We consider sanctions and seek advice prior to and throughout our business relationships and react swiftly when spotting those which may impact our business.
We are committed to knowing our clients and ensuring we do not engage in business that could compromise our integrity.
At MET Group we are committed to building relationships based on trust, and we are determined to maintain and enhance our reputation. For this reason, we never accept or offer personal advantages (monetary or other favours) to improve MET Group’s position vis-à-vis government officials, competitors, business partners and other third parties.
Any bribes, improper gifts or incentives offered to us must be reported without delay, to any member of the Group Compliance Committee.
Best practice permits gifts, hospitality and entertainment where they are lawful, transparent, proportionate, reasonable and bona fide. We exercise good judgement in each case, and if there is any doubt, we contact any member of the Group Compliance Committee.
All companies are at risk of being exploited by money laundering schemes.
We must be on guard and exercise scrutiny when selecting our customers and business partners, helping to protect MET Group’s reputation and ensure compliance with the law and MET Group’s policies at all times.
Healthy, capable, and motivated staff are essential to MET Group’s long-term success.
We are committed to ensure safety and protection of staff as well as of people visiting MET premises.
We design workplaces to comply with recognized health and safety requirements, with special attention to physical work conducted outside the office environment.
We provide regular training and information regarding safety standards.
Inadequacies and infringements of occupational safety or health standards must be immediately reported in line with internal rules.
We all have an obligation to protect MET Group’s assets (physical, electronic, financial and intangible) entrusted to us against loss, damage, misuse, theft, fraud, etc., and to limit non-business-related use to a reasonable extent.
Any suspected fraud or theft should be immediately reported.
We are committed to protecting information that is confidential or not otherwise made public, against unauthorised access by applying multiple layers of security, including robust authentication methods, physical access controls, and employee awareness programs.
Confidential and non-public information must only be passed on internally or externally in compliance with the applicable internal rules both during the employment (or similar) relationship with MET Group as well as thereafter.
We exercise outmost care and act in compliance with this Code of Conduct when using public online tools such as translation services, search engines or generative artificial intelligence including chatbots.
We are committed to using only artificial intelligence that adheres to fundamental values, such as individual rights, privacy, non-discrimination and non-manipulation. Materials and data generated by artificial intelligence must have appropriate human oversight before being used, including the assessment of any potential bias, discrimination, inaccuracy or misuse.
Personal, family, or other ties can conflict with the interests of MET Group, its business partners, or customers. We should avoid situations that could give rise to or be perceived as a conflict of interest.
We disclose conflicts of interests upon joining MET Group. Potential conflicts of interest arising in the course of engagement with MET Group should be reported without delay to the direct superior and HR.
Provided that no actual, potential or perceived conflict of interests would result, we may undertake – after approval from direct superior and HR – other paid or unpaid engagements, in public or private entities.
At MET we acknowledge that people have their own interests outside work, thus have the right to engage in civil society, including political activities, in line with the ”FITMIP” principles of the Code of Conduct.A
MET Group is committed to the fair treatment of people regardless of race, colour, gender, language, religion, political or other opinion, nationality, social origin, birthplace or disability.
We endorse both the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations and the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights.
We respect the dignity, privacy, and personal rights of each individual. Discrimination, harassment, or abusive language is not tolerated.
These principles are reinforced by the MET Group Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Framework, designed to promote diversity, foster an equitable environment, and create an inclusive culture.
We emphasize environmental protection, preservation, and sustainable development.
We believe that investing in green energy and introducing sustainable technologies will result in a more sustainable environmental impact.
We actively engage with stakeholder groups and support programs to positively impact civil society.
At MET Group we respect the privacy rights of our staff, customers and business partners. We are committed to managing personal data in a lawful, ethical and professional way.
We only process personal data for legitimate purposes, and the data must be accurate and relevant for the purpose for which it was collected, as well as properly protected from inappropriate access or misuse.
We do not tolerate violations of the Code of Conduct and will take appropriate actions depending on the severity of the violation and the degree of fault. Possible disciplinary measures include warnings, reprimands and dismissal (for cause). In cases of serious infringements, MET reserves the right to inform criminal prosecution authorities and/or to instigate proceedings under civil law.
Any serious violations of the Code of Conduct must be reported in line with the Speak-up Policy. All Speak-up inquiries will be conducted in a fair, thorough, and independent manner.
This Code of Conduct intends to protect MET Group and its stakeholders. Breaches of the Code of Conduct will be dealt with in a commensurate fashion, up to and including legal redress. The Company reserves the right to seek full financial restitution if necessary.
